Segment 1: Mapping Stigma

A community development specialist and an art curator have witnessed the social stigma surrounding HIV around the nation and world. They unite here in Kansas City with an exhibit that explores these issues and what can be done about them.

Mapping Stigma: An Archive of the Contracting an Issue Project will be on display at the Leedy-Voulkos Art Center through July 27th.

Segment 2, beginning at 22:21: Leon Mercer Jordan

Film maker Emiel Cleaver is among the most recent recipients of the Rocket Grant and is using this to make a biographical documentary about one of Kansas City’s leaders of the Civil Rights movement.

Segment 3, beginning at 32:52: The Wires

Stringed music duo The Wires has a new album dropping this month. We hear about their friendship and collaborative process bringing naturally inspired imagery to the ears with their violin and cello.

The Wires will be playing a show at recordBar on May 18th featuring songs from their new album Wilder.
