Seg. 1: Tenant Bill Of Rights | Seg. 2: Smart Growth For KC

Segment 1: KC Tenants will introduce a set of guidelines and protections for tenant-landlord disputes.

Since February, a Kansas City tenants group has been pushing for safe, fair, affordable housing for all. Their latest efforts have been drafting and garnering support for a tenant bill of rights, which they will present to City Council on Thursday.

  • Tara Raghuveer, director, KC Tenants
  • Tiana Caldwell, tenant leader, KC Tenant

Segment 2, starting at 29:20: Why new construction isn't necessarily a sign of healthy growth.

A new fiscal assessment of Kansas City could provide a roadmap for future development that would be financially responsible, and resilient. In lieu of new construction projects in ever-expanding ring communities, reinvesting in existing urban core resources would be key.

  • Joe Minicozzi, urban planner and principal, Urban3
  • Chuck Marohn, civil engineer, founder and president, Strong Towns

Joe Minicozzi and Chuck Marohn will present "Smart Growth in Kansas City: How? Where?" at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, at the Kansas City Public Library's Plaza Branch, 4801 Main St., Kansas City, Missouri 64112. RSVP at KCLibrary.org.
