Springfield-Greene County Health Department Reports 19th COVID-19 Death In August

There have been 19 deaths from COVID-19 in Greene County in August, and most were residents of long-term care facilities.

The latest death was a man in his 80s with underlying medical conditions who lived in a nursing home.  This was the 13th death of a long-term care facility resident this month.  Greene County has a total of 30 deaths from COVID-19.

As of Friday morning, August 28, at 10, there were 2972 total cases of COVID-19 in the county, and 1398 of them were active.  There has been a 35 percent increase in active cases in the last week, and a 16 percent increase in reported cases.

Ninety people were hospitalized in Greene County with COVID-19, and 13 of them were in the ICU.
