Most branches of the Springfield-Greene County Library District will reopen on Tuesday, May 26. They’ve been closed since March 17 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The only branches that will stay closed are Park Central and Fair Grove, which will offer curbside service.
Hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday through August 31. Drive-up service will be open 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and book return boxes will be open 24 hours a day.
Returned items will be quarantined for 24 hours and cleaned before being available for checkout. Visitors to the reopened branches will be asked to comply with posted city and county requirements for social distancing, building occupancy and more, according to the library’s executive director, Regina Greer Cooper.
The Library Express West, the 24-hour library kiosk at 3872 W. Chestnut Expressway, will reopen for service on Monday, May 18. The Infoline will be discontinued on Monday.
All in-person summer programs in the library branches are canceled, but are being replaced with virtual programming. All meeting rooms, conference and study rooms are closed through Aug. 31.
