State Representative Pushes for MoDOT to Complete Highway Project

A state representative is pushing the Missouri Department of Transportation to complete what he says is an unfinished project. A new stretch of US Highway 63 opening near Kirksville Wednesday includes a two-way stop.

Northeast Missouri State Representative Zachary Wyatt said that intersection is unsafe for all drivers and there shouldn’t have to be an accident on the road to get an overpass built.

"There is no money amount on the cost of a life," Wyatt said. "I just can’t see how they think that having, especially on Highway 6, having stop signs on Highway 6 is safe."

Wyatt has put together a commission of Adair County leaders in an effort to get this project first on MoDOT’s completion list. The commission includes former State Representative Bob Behnen and President of the Highway 63 Corporation Harriet Beard.
