UM System President Tim Wolfe spoke on several university issues after an event this Wednesday for his lecture tour on pursuing a higher education.

Wolfe spoke on the release of the university’s Title IX report after the event.

He said the university has made huge investments in improving education and training on discrimination and sexual misconduct on campus.

“We now know where we need to invest based on the survey that our students took place in improving education awareness so that we’re spending as much resources as we can on prevention versus response to an unfortunate situation,” Wolfe said.

He said the university is concerned with making sure there is a culture of respect between students and employees.

He also said the university must constantly work to identify and address any weaknesses to ensure the safety of students and faculty on all four MU campuses.

“You can never be done with this,” Wolfe said. “You have to constantly improve on a regular basis, and improvement comes from looking at the results and accurately assessing where you are.”

Wolfe said the report’s findings are encouraging in that awareness of how to identify and deal with discrimination and sexual misconduct has increased.
