Updates From Mayor Lucas | Pandemic Board Games

Segment 1, beginning at 4:49: The mayor discusses the latest pandemic guideline changes and gives status reports on policing in the city and next year's budget.

As Governor Mike Parson stands firm on not issuing a mask mandate, first-term Kansas City, Missouri, mayor Quinton Lucas is "heartened by the fact that every metropolitan county except Johnson County, Kansas, has joined" the latest set of COVID-19 orders. Lucas also acknowledged differing opinions on the Board of Police Commissioners for the slow pace to bring change to the Office of Community Complaints, and is not hopeful of enticing the Toronto Raptors of the NBA to the T-Mobile Center for the coming basketball season.

Segment 2, beginning at 24:50: As many folks turn to real-life versions of board games, one that stands out is "Pandemic."

Board games are on the rise in this year marked by quarantines and lockdowns. Originally released in 2008 and lauded by The New Yorker as a game “for the age of coronavirus,” the board game "Pandemic" is a cooperative experience where, refreshingly, players work together to stop the spread of disease around the globe.
