The Little Acorns program,“Turtlemania,” will be held Friday morning (8/2) at 10 and 11:15 and Saturday morning (8/3) at 11:15 for kids three to six-years-old at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center.  Registration is required. 

The Ozark Empire Fair continues through Saturday (8/3) at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds in Springfield. 

The First Friday Art Walk is Friday night (8/2) from 6 to 10 at 18 venues in downtown Springfield. 

Music students from the Conservatory of the Ozarks will give a concert Friday night (8/2) at the Park Central Branch Library during First Friday Art Walk from 6 to 9 p.m.  The library will also host the opening of a new exhibit during that time.  Artist Dana Neuenschwander will present “Ozarks Avenues, Pathways and Corridors.”   Learn more here

Tumble 2019on Park Central Square will feature Joe Dillstrom and The C Street Band, Jin J.X. and Trak Masta Tom Friday night (8/2) from 6 to 10. 

First Friday will be held Friday night (8/2) at Lakeside Shoppes next to Northbeach Park in Branson.  Enjoy fine art and live music during the Dancin’ in the Street Concert.   

The eighth annual Bluegress & Barbecue will be held Friday night (8/2) from 5:30 to 8:30 at the Republic Community Center, 711 E. Miller Rd. in Republic.  Dinner is begins at 5:30 with music at 6:30.  There will also be a silent auction.  Proceeds benefit The Republic Pregnancy Resource Center. 

The Yards and Yards of Yard Sales event is Friday and Saturday (8/2-8/3) in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.  A map is available online. 

Summer Diversity Weekend is Friday through Sunday (8/2-8/4) in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.  Events include a drag show, live music, drag queen bingo and more.  A full list of events is available online. 

The Drew Lewis Foundation will host the fifth annual Fashion ForwardFriday night (8/2) at 6 at the Historic Fox Theatre on Park Central Square in downtown Springfield.  Children participating in the Northwest Project will model back to school outfits. 

The Springfield Little Theatre Summer Institute presents “Guys and Dolls Jr.” Friday and Saturday (8/2-8/3) at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. at the Landers Theatre, 311 E. Walnut in Springfield. 

The Springfield Dance Alliance’s fifth annual gala, “Gin and Jazz,” will be held Friday night (8/2) at the Barley House at Moon Town Crossing, 3060 N. Kentwood in Springfield. 

The play, “Race,”continues through August 11 at Springfield Contemporary Theatre, 302 E. Pershing in downtown Springfield. 

Park Day Reunion is Friday through Sunday (8/2-8/4) at Silver Springs Park, 1100 N. Hampton in Springfield.  Activities will include a parade, sports competitions, a car show, gospel singing and more. 

The Joplin Emancipation Celebration Committee presents “Park Days Celebration 2019” Friday through Sunday (8/2-8/4) at Ewert Park, 950 E. 5th St. in Joplin. 

The 2019 MSU Sneaker Soiree will be held Friday night (8/2) at Hammons Student Center.  Doors open at 5 for the auction to benefit intercollegiate athletics. 

Springfield Improv presents “Improvable Causes” Friday night (8/2) at 9, “The Home Team” Saturday night (8/3) at 7:30 and “Comedy Open Mic” Saturday night at 9. 

The program, “Space Above the Buffalo,” will be held Friday night (8/2) at 9 at the Buffalo Point Launch Day Use Area at the Buffalo National River.  Learn what the park is doing to protect the night sky, the challenges it faces and more. 

A park ranger at the Buffalo National River will discuss how different people have used the stars to educate, entertain or explain the unknown during the program, “The Stories that Stars Tell,” Friday night (8/2) at 9 at the Buffalo Point Amphitheater. 

The program, “Keep Calm and Go Back to School,” will be held Friday afternoon (8/2) from 2 to 5 at the Fair Grove Branch Library for all ages.  Make a “calm-down jar” for going back to school.  Snacks and materials will be provided. 

Adults are invited to a showing if the film, “Apollo 13,”Friday afternoon (8/2) at 2 at the Library Station.  Popcorn will be provided.  

The program “Build a Mars Rover,” will be held Friday (8/2) at 4 for grades one through three and at 6 for grades four through six at the Library Center. 

The Diaper Dash and bRUNch Bash to benefit the Diaper Bank of the Ozarks will be held Saturday morning (8/3) at the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in Springfield. 

A Natural Tunnel hike will start at 8 a.m. Saturday (8/3) at Bennett Spring State Park in Lebanon.  The trail is rugged and is 7.5 miles long.  Take hiking shoes, water, lunch an d insect repellant. 

Tours of Giboney Cave at Doling Park will be offered Saturday (8/3) at the north Springfield park.  The cost to go on a walking tour of the cave is $5 per person or $16 for a family of four, and the cost for the tunnel tour is $7 per person or $24 for a family of four.  Registration is required. 

A program on snakes will be held Saturday (8/3) at 11:30 a.m. at Bennett Spring State Park in Lebanon.  Take part in snake activities and get an up close look at live snakes.  A formal presentation will start at 1:30. 

A bison hike will start Saturday morning (8/3) at 10 at Prairie State Park in Mindenmines.  Registration is required. 

Learn how to knit Saturday (8/3) from 10 to noon at the Christian County Library Ozark Branch, 1005 N. 4th in Ozark.  Registration is required. 

Hogmolly will be in concert Saturday night (8/3) at 7 at the Historic Owen Theatre in Seymour.  Tickets are $10. Learn more here

The program, “Learn2 Paddle,” will be held at Stockton State Park Saturday (8/3).  Learn to kayak with Missouri State Parks staff.  Registration is required. 

A tour of the Historic Boxley Grist Mill at the Buffalo National River will start Saturday morning (8/3) at 10.  The mill was constructed in 1869 and was in operation until 1951. 

The program, “Agricultural School on Wheels,” will start at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday (8/3-8/4) at George Washington Carver National Monument in Diamond.  Learn about the Jessup Wagon, which Carver used to carry supplies to farmers. 

Adults are invited to see the film, “Interstellar,” Saturday afternoon (8/3) at 1 at the Republic Branch Library. 

The program, “Surviving the Next 100: Will Park See Another Centennial?” will start Saturday night (8/3) at 8:30 at the Buffalo Point Amphitheater at the Buffalo National River. 

The program, “Colors of Water,” will start Sunday morning (8/4) at 9 at the Buffalo Point Launch parking lot at the Buffalo National River.  Paint with watercolors with the Buffalo as a backdrop.  Materials will be provided. 

Springfield contemporary Theatre’s music series, “Songbook Encore,” will feature Johnnie Angelia King Sunday night (8/4) at 7:30 at the theatre, 302 E. Pershing in downtown Springfield. 

“Sunday Make ‘n Play” is Sunday afternoon (8/4) from 2 to 4 at the Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library.  Kids age three to grade four are invited to drop in for a hands-on, interactive experience with a maker, play and art focus. 

The Branson Arts Council presents “Shakespeare’s Hamlet” performed by the Forte Theatre Productions LLC Sunday and Monday night (8/4-8/5) at 8 at the Chad A. Fuqua Park in Hollister.  This version is set in the 1990s and uses an original rock underscore.  Tickets are required. 

The Essentials Film Series at the Moxie Cinema, 305 S. Campbell in downtown Springfield focuses on films people should see on the big screen.  “MASH,” a film from 1970, will be shown Sunday night (8/4) at 5:45 and Monday night (8/5) at 7.
