Gardens Aglow will open Friday and Saturday night (11/29-11/30) from 5 to 8:30 at the Mizumoto Japanese Stroll Garden, 2400 S. Scenic in Springfield.  The event continues Thursdays through Saturdays until December 28.  The garden will be lit with holiday lights, and you can purchase coffee and hot chocolate to drink around a fire pit.  Admission is $5 and free for children 12 and younger.  

See the film, “Christmas Vacation” at the Gillioz Theatre, 325 Park Central East in Springfield, Friday night (11/29) at 8.  Tickets are $5 or $12 for VIP.  

The Ozarks Garden Railway Society will have a holiday train on display Sunday (12/1) through December 31 at the Springfield-Greene County Botanical Center, 2400 S. Scenic.  Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays.  

Drury’s men’s basketball team will host Southern Arkansas Friday afternoon (11/29) at 3:15 and Rogers State Saturday (11/30) at 3:15 at the O’Reilly Family Event Center.  Learn more here.

The Library Center in Springfield will host Building Day for kids in grades K-6 Friday and Saturday (11/29-11/30) from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.  Blocks and LEGO bricks will be provided.    

Branson’s Festival of Trees continues through December 8 at Branson Landing near the fountains in Town Square.  The Christmas tree and wreath exhibition and sale benefits Christian Action Ministries, which operates food pantries and a mobile food outreach in Taney County.  

The Lights of Joy Christmas Drive-Thru runs through January 1 nightly from 5 to 10 p.m. at 700 Expressway Lane in Branson.  

Families are invited to stop by the Shoal Conservation Education Center, 201 W. Riviera Dr. in Joplin, Saturday (11/30) between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to learn about wild turkeys and make a craft.  More information here.  

Stop by the Springfield Conservation Nature Center, 4601 S. Nature Center Way, Saturday afternoon (11/30) from 1 to 4 to watch members of the Ozarks Whittlers and Woodcarvers demonstrate their craft.  Find out more here.  

Adults are invited to the Madea Movie Marathon Saturday (11/30) at the Library Station.  “Diary of a Mad Black Woman” will be shown at 2, “Madea’s Family Reunion at 4:15 and “Madea Goes to Jail” at 6:20.  Popcorn will be provided.    

Dickerson Park Zoo will host a Santa Parade Saturday morning (11/30) at 10.  Follow Santa around the zoo as he gives gifts to animals.  

Moxie Mornings is Saturday morning (11/30) at 10 at the Moxie Cinema, 305 S. Campbell in Springfield.  Kids will watch an innovative short film and make a craft.  It’s geared towards two to six-year-olds, but younger and older kids are welcome.  

The Thanksgiving Mystery Hour Taping will start Saturday night (11/30) at 7 at the Gillioz Theatre, 325 Park Central East in Springfield.  It will feature George Basil from HBO’s “Crashing,” Craig Antico with RIP Medical Debt and music by Blake and Larissa Compton, Chappell Roan and Tyler Jackson Stokes.  Tickets are $12 online or $14 at the door.  

Mini Golf is coming to the Library Center Saturday night (11/30) at 6.  Play your way through nine holes of golf featuring children’s book characters.  Registration is required.  

The Joplin Museum Model Railroad Show and Swap Meet will be held Saturday (11/30) from 9 am. to 3 p.m. at the museum, 504 S. Schifferdecker Ave. in Joplin.  Admission is $3, and kids under 12 get in free.  

See the film, “The Life and Legacy, Booker T. Washington,” Saturday morning (11/30) at 11 at George Washington Carver National Monument in Diamond.  

The Republic Branch Library will host “Build-It Saturday” Saturday (11/30) at 11 a.m. for kids in grades K-8.  LEGO bricks, blocks and other building materials will be available, and those who attend can play with the Imagination Playground.  

Harrison House of HOPE, 600 E. Stephenson in Harrison, Arkansas, will host Breakfast with Santa Saturday morning (11/30) at 9. The cost is $5 per person.  

The Stockton Tiger Band will present Carols on the Square Saturday afternoon (11/30) at 4:30.  The band will play on the Stockton square during the tree lighting.  

The annual Hmong New Year Celebration will be held Saturday (11/30) at 8 a.m. at Crowder College, 4020 Main St., in Cassville.  There will be traditional ball tossing, music, food and dance performances.  

The Lebanon-Laclede County Library will host Storytime with Santa Saturday morning (11/30) at 11 at the library, 915 S. Jefferson in Lebanon.  

“Music and Memories: Holiday Cheer” will be held Sunday afternoon (12/1) at 2 for adults at the Library Center.  It’s an intergenerational, multisensory experience for individuals with Alzheimer's and dementia and their families and friends. Hear carolers sing, decorate a sugar cookie and watch a selection of clips from classic holiday films.  

The Missouri State Lady Bears basketball team will host Kansas City Sunday afternoon (12/1) at 2 at JQH Arena.  Learn more here.  

Country music artist, Ty Herndon, will take the stage at the Gillioz Theatre, 325 Park Central East in Springfield, Sunday night (12/1) at 7:30.  Proceeds will benefit AIDS Project of the Ozarks.  Find out more here.  

The Springfield Ballet will host the Nutcracker Children’s Workshop for kids three to eight-years-old Sunday afternoon (12/1) at 3 at the Creamery Arts Center.  The cost is $15 per student.

The Essentials Film Series at the Moxie Cinema, 305 S. Campbell in Springfield, will feature the 2013 film, “The Wolf of Wall Street,” Sunday and Monday (12/1-12/2).  

The Humane Society of Southwest Missouri will host Photos with Santa Paws Sunday (12/1) from 1 to 4 at their shelter, 3161 W. Norton Rd. in Springfield.  The cost is $10 per photo.  

The Shepherd of the Hills Humane Society will host Pet Photos with Santa and Open House Sunday (12/1) at 2 at the shelter, 2837 Shepherd of the Hills Expressway in Branson. Photos are $10.

The 39th Toys for Tots Motorcycle Ride will be held Sunday (12/1) at 2 at the Oasis Hotel and Convention Center, 2546 N. Glenstone in Springfield.  

The World AIDS Day Concertto benefit AIDS Project of the Ozarks is Sunday afternoon (12/1) at 3 at Grace United Methodist Church, 600 S. Jefferson in Springfield.  Admission is a suggested donation of hygiene items for the APO Hygiene Pantry.  

Spring Valley Veterinary will host the December Community Dog Walk Sunday morning (12/1) at 10 starting at Sequiota Park, 3500 S. Lone Pine in Springfield.  Dogs must be healthy and fully vaccinated.  

Holiday Doodle at Chesterfield Family Center will be held Sunday afternoon (12/1) at 2.  It’s a step-by-step acrylic painting class.  The cost is $40 for non-family center members and $30 for members and $25 for each additional canvas.  To sign up, call 417-522-3200.
