Garrett Bullock’s basement bedroom in his Columbia home is a video gamer’s paradise.

 

Two computer screens rest on a sleek black desk. A big, flat screen TV is mounted on the wall above one of the monitors. Along the wall, dozens of video game cases are meticulously lined up.

 

It’s the kind of place where someone could reasonably play video games for an entire day, which is convenient for Bullock, the president of the Columbia Extra Life Guild.

Macon County Residents to Vote on a $13 Million Bond

Macon County residents will vote on a $13 million bond issue this April proposed by the R-1 Macon County Public School District. Residents can expect a 65 cent tax increase if the bond is successful. The revenue from the bond will fund overall school facility renovations outlined in the school’s concept plan.

Macon airport reopens with new runway

Macon’s Fower Memorial Airport reopened after being closed for five months for the construction of a new runway. City Administrator Allan Muncy said the improvement to the airport is very important because of what a big role the airport plays to the city.

The new runway is made of concrete and is 900 feet longer than the old one. The runway will support a new jet-fuel fueling system the airport recently added and allow bigger planes to fly into the airport, like the type that small businesses own.

One of the largest economic engines in Macon, Mo. has temporarily halted production. High corn prices forced the Macon POET Biorefining’s ethanol plant to temporarily close.
