Volunteers honor Sterling Wyatt and his family

Scores of people showed up to Shepard Boulevard Elementary in Columbia Friday afternoon to line the streets with American flags along the route to the home of the family of Sterling Wyatt, who was killed by an IED in Afghanistan Wednesday. Wyatt’s family is expected to return home Friday night after retrieving his body. Listen to the audio postcard above to hear from those at the event, including Wyatt's grandmother.

Another Columbia soldier, 20-year-old Army Reserves member Zane Lee, died on Sunday. An online obituary says he "died in Indianapolis surrounded by his loving family and comrades." His visitation at Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel and goes from 5:00 until 8:00 Friday night, and will continue Saturday at noon until his funeral at 3:00pm. He will be buried with full military honors at Columbia Cemetery.
