The Funeral for Missouri Auditor Tom Schweich is Tuesday, and Missouri lawmakers are clearing their schedules.

The Missouri House and Senate canceled most committee hearings scheduled for Tuesday and moved back the start time to 4 PM, to accommodate the earlier funeral.

The funeral is scheduled for 10 A.M. Tuesday at the Church of St. Michael and St. George in the St. Louis suburb of Clayton, where Schweich was a member.

The only hearings still on for tomorrow is the House of Representatives’ Budget and Ways and Means committee meetings.

Schweich died Thursday morning in Clayton in what police say is an apparent suicide.

Schweich had been reelected in November, after running without a Democratic opponent.

He had been seeking the GOP nomination for governor, and planned to hold a press conference denouncing a negative campaign against him.

Now, Republican Senator Mike Parson is speaking out against such negative campaign tactics.

Parson condemned a negative ad against Schweich that ran the weekend before his death.

Schweich had told reporters the Missouri republican party chairman John Hancock had made anti-semitic comments about him, something Hancock denies.
