The Columbia Police Department says that an assault occurred on the MKT Trail near the Forum Boulevard entrance last night.
A preliminary investigation found that the victim was walking on the trail when they were grabbed by a white male suspect and subsequently struck several times with an object. After the attack, the suspect fled eastbound on the trail.
The police department conducted an article search of the area with a K-9 unit, but were unsuccessful in finding the suspect, who is still believed to be at large.
The victim was conscious and did not reportedly suffer any life-threatening injuries.
