KBIA host Janet Saidi is ready to take calls.

This weekend was supposed to be graduation at MU. Typically, the month of May throughout Mid-Missouri is full of families celebrating -- students in caps and gowns and photo shoots at the columns. The coronavirus pandemic has halted all of that. These days, many students are packed up and living off campus awaiting plans for the fall, all while MU’s administration is tasked with deciding what’s next during this uncertain time.

On top of the challenges posed by this coronavirus crisis, campus leaders are figuring out how to cope with another round of state budget cuts to higher education by finding a way to make up for a $17 million budget gap for the upcoming fiscal year. What that means immediately is university staff being furloughed and a lot of uncertainty at every level.

In this episode, we talk with someone at the helm of these plans and decisions as our campus navigates crisis.

Our guest:

MU Provost Latha Ramchand.
