City settles with man over holding cell incident

The city of Columbia has reached a settlement with an inmate that was shoved in a police department holding cell last August. Kenneth Baker filed a motion to dismiss his lawsuit against the city and three police officers.

Baker is expected to receive $250,000 as part of the settlement, which arose from an Aug. 15 incident in which he was taken into custody for resisting arrest. His Attorney Ron Netemeyer says the settlement resulted from negotiations with City representatives.

Police and city officials were unavailable to comment.
