Missouri Republicans rally to start fall campaigns

Jim Bowen

Missouri GOP candidates for statewide office are starting their fall campaigns with a call for teamwork among Republicans.
Candidates for governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, state treasurer and attorney general held a rally Tuesday outside a Republican campaign office in Jefferson City. Campaign signs behind the candidates and a recreational vehicle parked behind the lectern bore an image of GOP governor candidate Dave Spence.

Republicans were rallying later Tuesday in Lee's Summit. On Wednesday, the GOP is scheduled to stop in Joplin, Springfield, Fenton and St. Peters.

The state party says statewide candidates, U.S. Senate candidate Todd Akin, Sen. Roy Blunt, Auditor Tom Schweich and several congressional candidates would be traveling for some or all of the campaign tour.
