This week, we'll hear about an MU researcher's investigation of violence, and learn about population growth in a certain species of armadillo.
Robert Walker is an assistant professor of anthropology at the University of Missouri. One area he studies is the nature of human violence. Recently, he pored over 11 in-depth ethnographic studies of Amazonian tribes and recorded every instance of violent death – noting tribal raids, attacks and instances of full-out war. KBIA’s Harum Helmy sat down with Walker and learned how his findings could inform our understanding of violence today.
Also, the nine-banded armadillo has been spotted farther north every year, defying biologists’ expectations. KBIA’s Austin Nichols spoke with experts on species expansion to better understand the armadillo’s growing population.
