Across Missouri, small businesses have struggled during the pandemic. Small newspapers are no exception. The Sedalia Democrat, in Pettis County, Mo., has seen its advertising revenue cut in half, but the need for information hasn’t stopped.

 

The five journalists who work there are no strangers to COVID fatigue, but they feel compelled to keep working hard for their county of 40,000.

 

KBIA’s Veronica Mohesky looked at how rural newspapers, like the Sedalia Democrat, are holding up in 2020.
