Park University will offer scholarships to gamers joining their esports team beginning next spring.

Segment 1: Park University to introduce esports as varsity program.

More than 60 colleges nationwide have brought their sports programs into the digital world. Esports is becoming increasingly popular, and the game is coming to the Kansas City area next spring. Park University recently announced it is building a state-of-the-art gaming center and debuting a varsity video-gaming team. Today we learned about the future of competitive gaming and why the university decided to join the sport.


Segment 2, starting at 19:23: What's showing in indie, foreign, and documentary film.

The summer's most anticipated blockbusters have already hit the screens this year, but there is still plenty to see. So say Up To Date's indie, foreign, and documentary Film Critics, who reviewed their favorites. From three men discovering they were triplets separated at birth, to a father and daughter who call the woods their home, there are a lot of hidden gems now showing.

Sam grew up in Overland Park and was educated at the University of Kansas. After working in Philadelphia where he covered organized crime, politics and political corruption he moved on to TV news management jobs in Minneapolis and St. Louis. Sam came home in 2013 and covered health care and education at KCPT. He came to work at KCUR in 2014. Sam has a national news and documentary Emmy for an investigation into the federal Bureau of Prisons and how it puts unescorted inmates on Grayhound and Trailways buses to move them to different prisons. Sam has one son and is pretty good in the kitchen.
