Task Force 1 Members and Canine Teams Carry Out Searches in Florida

Missouri Task Force 1 searched destroyed houses and debris fields Monday and Tuesday in Mexico Beach, Florida, according to a Boone County Fire Protection District Facebook post.

Human remains detection search teams worked in conjunction with four Missouri Task Force members previously assigned to Jackson County, Florida, to search the homes.

The rest of the task force was assigned to Panama City, Florida, to carry out searches as directed by a FEMA team.

Task Force 1 members deployed the human remains detection teams to Florida on Sunday morning, according to previous Missourian reporting. They arrived in Pensacola on Sunday night, according to the Fire Protection District Facebook post.

Also on Sunday, Task Force 1 members checked on 67 Jackson County residents who had remained in their homes. They assessed 431 structures for damage and searched a vehicle. They then left for Mexico Beach to meet up with the canine teams.

On Monday, 12 Task Force 1 members carried out search operations in conjunction with other urban search-and-rescue task forces from around the country, around Tyndall Air Force Base, which has been largely destroyed, according to reporting by The Associated Press.
