History Museum On The Square Nominated For National Honor

A local attraction is in the running for USA Today’s 2019 10Best Readers’ Choice Award.  The History Museum on the Square has been nominated by a panel of experts and 10Best editors in the Best New Attraction category.

The contest is underway, and voters are allowed to vote once per day until December 30 at 11 a.m. at https://www.10best.com/awards/travel/best-new-attraction/

The museum’s executive director, John Sellars, says, since the museum opened four months ago, visitors have come from 40 states and 25 countries.

The attraction is located in the 104-year-old former Barth’s department store building and the one adjacent to it.  It has more than 18,000-square-feet of space.  Three floors contain a welcome center, six permanent galleries and a traveling exhibit space.  Staff offices, workrooms and space for volunteers and interns are in the basement.

The History Museum on the Square is open Monday through Saturday from 9 to 5 and Sunday from 1 to 5.
