Missouri State University officials have extended Spring Break for students; beginning March 30, classes that were previously taught in-person will be taught through alternative means.
MSU President Clif Smart told reporters Tuesday this will give faculty time to prepare.
“We probably have close to 30 percent of our faculty who have not taught online,” he said.
This week and next week, those faculty members will receive training that will allow them to teach via Blackboard, Zoom, and other means.
Students will be contacted by their faculty members with further instructions, officials said.
Also, MSU dorms will remain open to students who need to be on campus. Students who choose to move out of the dorms will need to schedule a time online to do so. The university's website says that schedule will soon be available on the Residence Life, Housing and Dining Services website.
Also, MSU's online announcement provided the following information:
- Access to the libraries and computer labs will remain available on a modified schedule. Arrangements are being made to ensure social distancing is observed in these spaces.
- Magers Health and Wellness Center will remain open.
- Plaster Student Union will remain open.
- Foster Recreation Center will close March 17.
- Bookstore will remain open weekdays 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
