Missouri House member Denny Hoskins says he has been chosen by Republican colleagues as their nominee for the second-ranking position in the chamber.
Hoskins, of Warrensburg, said today that he was picked for the position of House speaker pro tem during a Republican caucus meeting over the weekend in St. Louis. He still must be formally elected by the entire chamber when it reconvenes September 11 to consider overriding gubernatorial vetoes.
Hoskins would succeed House Speaker Pro Tem Jason Smith, a Republican from Salem who resigned after winning a special election for the U.S. House in June.
