The Birthplace of Route 66 Festival is Friday and Saturday (8/9-8/10) on Park Central Square.  Events will include a charity bike show, a car show, live music, a parade, a 6.6K run/walk and more. 

Studio Live will feature art rock with Andy Havens at noon Friday (8/9) on KSMU.  You can see Andy perform live during Studio Live Social Hour Friday night at 6 at The Backlot at Alamo Drafthouse in Springfield.  Learn more here.

“Bluegrass Blast” will start Friday and Saturday (8/9-8/10) at Basin Spring Park in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.  The free concerts will start at 3 and 5:15 Friday and 3 and 5:30 Saturday and will feature Casey and the Attaboys, Old Salt Reunion and Po Ramblin Boys.   

Springfield Contemporary Theatre, 302 E. Pershing in Springfield, presents “Race” through Sunday (8/11). 

Ventriloquist, Bernie and Clyde, will give a performance Friday (8/9) at 4 at the Christian County Library Clever Branch, 7450 W. Veterans Blvd. in Clever. 

Adults are invited to the Friday Film Club Friday night (8/9) at 6 at the Christian County Library Nixa Branch, 208 N. McCroskey in Nixa.  The featured film will be “Beasts of the Southern Wild.” 

The program,“Ozarks Astronomy,” starts at 8:30 Friday night (8/9) at Bennett Spring State Park in Lebanon.  Look through a telescope and learn about the night sky. 

The ninth annual Pink for Peitz Benefit Rodeo is Friday and Saturday (8/9-8/10) at the Saddle Club Arena in Mountain Home, Arkansas.  Proceeds benefit the Peitz Cancer Support House at Baxter Regional Medical Center. 

The Cirque Du Flame Fire-Arts-Music Festival will be at the Jack Mountain Music Amphitheater, 2451 State Highway O in Seymour, Friday through Sunday (8/9-8/11).  The event will feature live music, fire performances, workshops and more. 

The Alt at the Aud Concert Series, at City Auditorium in Eureka Springs, continues Friday night (8/9) at 7 with Mouton and La Guerre. 

This month’s “Get Together With Ted”: Ideas Worth Sharing” at the Yellow House, 209 W. Trish Knight St. in West Plains, will focus on meditation and prayer.  It starts Friday night (8/9) at 7. 

The Springfield Conservation Nature Center invites anyone 18 and older to go on a two-mile hike through Hunter Creek at Vera Cruz Conservation Area Saturday (8/10).  Registration is required. 

The 158th Battle Anniversary and Living History Event is Saturday (8/10) at Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield, 6424 W. Farm Rd. 182 in Republic.  An anniversary program will begin at 10 a.m. in front of the visitor center. The historic Ray House will be open for tours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and a period blacksmith and broom maker will be doing demonstrations there.  Missouri State Guard Infantry & Federal artillery demonstrations will be at Stop 5, along the tour road, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., beginning at the top of every hour.  Entrance fees will be waived Saturday. 

Zooper Hero Saturday is Saturday (8/10) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Dickerson Park Zoo in Springfield.  Celebrate local and fictional heroes. Meet Spider Man, Wonder Woman and more.  The Springfield Fire Department and City Utilities will create intermittent “rain” showers in the Tropical Asia area.  Zoo admission applies. 

Mercy Springfield will host the Mercy Kids Health Rally Saturday (8/10) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. outside Mercy Kids Children’s Hospital in Springfield.  The first 100 kids will get a voucher for a free haircut and a bike helmet.  Kids can learn the rules of the road by participating in a bike rodeo.  There will also be car seat checks, bounce houses, giveaways, face painting, therapy dogs and more. 

The Kids Fishing Derby will be held Saturday morning (8/10) at 9 at Walter Woods Conservation Area, 7129 Dutch Elm Dr. in Joplin.  Kids 15 and younger will be able to take part in catch and release fishing, and prizes will be awarded. 

The Shoal Creek Water Festival 2019 will be held Saturday (8/10) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Wildcat Glades, 201 W. Riviera Dr. in Joplin.  The event will include cardboard boat races, shoebox boat races, inner tube races, informational booths, kids’ activities, food trucks and more. 

Nixa Parks and Recreation will show the film, "Bumblebee" at McCauley Park at dusk Saturday night (8/10).  Take blankets and lawn chairs. 

Springfield Metro Chorus presents “Shopping with a Song,” an arts, crafts and vendor fair, Saturday (8/10) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Lake Country Soccer, 2334 E. Pythian in Springfield. 

A display on mammals will be at Shepherd of the Hills Conservation Center, 483 Hatchery Rd. in Branson, Saturday morning (8/10) from 10 to noon. 

The program, “African American Trailblazers,” will be held Saturday and Sunday afternoon (8/10-8/11) at 1 at George Washington Carver National Monument in Diamond.  Learn about some of the many contributions and accomplishments of African Americans. 

“Healthy Living for your Brain and Body” will be held Saturday afternoon (8/10) at 1 at the Christian County Library Nixa Branch, 208 N. McCroskey in Nixa. 

The Concerts on the Square Summer Concert Series continues Saturday night (8/10) at 5:30 with the southern rock, country band, Southern Confessions.  Vendors open at 10 a.m., and DJ’s and karaoke start at noon.  The event is held in the Harrison Courthouse Square Historic District.  

A car show with a bounce house and fire truck will be held Saturday (8/10) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Countryside Christian Church, 3350 W. Jackson in Ozark.  Learn more here

The Springfield-Greene County Library’s Sunday Concert Series continues Sunday (8/11) at 2 at the Library Center.  Mary Alexander will join storyteller and musician, Marideth Sisco, for“Front Porch Songs: What We Did Before Television.”

The Jane A. Meyer Summer Series will feature Joe Dias Sunday (8/11) at 7 p.m. outside Meyer Library on the Missouri State University campus.  Take blankets or lawn chairs.  Tours of the carillon will be available after the concert. 

The Essentials film series at the Moxie Cinema, 305 S. Campbell in Springfield, will feature the 1971 film, “Harold and Maude,” Sunday and Monday night (8/11-8/12) at 6.  The series features films everyone should see on the big screen. 

The “Culture Fair Travel the World in a Day!” event will be held Sunday (8/11) from 1 to 5:30 at 3000 N. Grant in Springfield and will feature booths, cultural performances, food and more. 

Second Baptist Church, 3111 E. Battlefield, will host the Free Summer Block PartySunday (8/11) from 5 to 7 p.m. with food, inflatables, laser tag, a dunk tank, face painting and more.
