The Springfield Conservation Nature Center will open its trails from 6 to 9 Friday night (12/6) for an Evening Stroll.  Trails will be patrolled by volunteer naturalists.  Inside the Nature Center, there will be a fire in the fireplace and hot chocolate, and the gift shop will be open.  

“Nature Art: An Evening with Tim Ernst” will start at 5 p.m. Friday (12/6) at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center.  Ernst will share images from his latest book, “Arkansas Splendor.”  He’ll sign books from 6 to 7 and from 8 to 9.  Registration for the program is required.  

Gardens Aglow continues through December 28 Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from 5 to 8:30 at the Mizumoto Japanese Stroll Garden, 2400 S. Scenic in Springfield.  The garden is decorated with lights, and you can purchase hot chocolate and coffee to drink around a fire pit.  

The 2019 Midtown Victorian Christmas Homes Tour is Friday night (12/6) from 5 to 9 and Saturday (12/7) from noon to 5.  Visit midtown homes decorated for the holidays.  Admission is $10 in advance or $12 at the door.    

Adults will learn internet safety tips during a program Friday morning (12/6) at 10 at the Republic Branch Library.  

The two-part program, “Fishing Skills: Trout Fishing and Fly Tying,” will start Friday (12/6) at the Shoal Creek Conservation Education Center in Joplin.  The first program is at 6 p.m. Friday, and on December 14, participants will travel to Roaring River State Park in Cassville to try out their new skills and flies.  Registration is required.  

Rudolph’s Five & Dime: A Holiday Bazaar continues Friday (12/6) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Blair-Shannon Grand Lounge at Missouri State University.  Proceeds benefit the Wilda F. Looney Residence Life Leadership Scholarship Fund.  

Drury University’s women’s basketball team will host Arkansas-Fort Smith Friday morning (12/5) at 11 at the O’Reilly Family Event Center.  Learn more here.  

An MSU Trombone Studio Recital will start at 10 Friday morning (12/6) in Ellis Recital Hall at Missouri State University.  

Children three to six-years-old are invited to the Little Acorns program, “Wonderful Whitetails,” Friday morning (12/6) at 10 and 11:15 and Saturday morning (12/7) at 11:15 at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center.  They’ll learn facts about deer.  Registration is required.  

Rescue One will host the Ugly Christmas Sweater PartyFriday night (12/6) from 6 to 9 at Barley House, 3060 N. Kentwood in Springfield.  The event will include dinner, dogs, music, food, raffles and a silent auction.  Tickets are $30, and proceeds benefit Rescue One.  

First Friday Art Walk is Friday night (12/6) from 6 to 10 at several downtown Springfield venues.  

The exhibit, “A History of HIV and AIDS in Springfield: Selections from the Missouri State Archives,” opens Friday night (12/6) at the Park Central Branch Library.  

The 19th Annual Christmas Tour of Homes is Friday and Saturday (12/6-12/7) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Kimberling City.  Tickets are $20 and are available at the Kimberling Area Library, 45 Kimberling Blvd.  A hospitality room at the Kimberling Area Library will offer lunch, crafts and gifts and baked goods.  

The Lights of Joy Christmas Drive-Thru is open through December 31 nightly from 5 to 11 at 700 Expressway Ln. in Branson.  

The Friends of the Rogersville Library will host a used book sale Friday (12/6) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday (12/7) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the library, 104 N. Beatie St. in Rogersville.  

The Library Center will host an Ugly Sweater Party for adults Friday night (12/6) at 7.  Take a sweater to decorate, and the library will provide supplies, hot chocolate, music and a photo booth.  

College of the Ozarks theatre students will present “Ken Ludwig’s Sherwood: The Adventures of Robin Hood” Friday and Saturday night (12/6-12/7) at 7:30 and Sunday (12/8) at 2:30 in Jones Auditorium.  

The College of the Ozarks Concert Band will present a Christmas Concert Friday night (12/6) at 7 in the Keeter Center Royal Oak Forum.  

Stained Glass Theatre, 1996 W. Evangel in Ozark, will present “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” through December 14.  

The traveling exhibit, “Over There: Missouri & the Great War,” is at Missouri State University’s Meyer Library through February 27.  The exhibit highlights a statewide collaborative digitization project to document Missouri’s role in World War I.  

Evangel University, 1111 N. Glenstone in Springfield, will present their 36th Annual Christmas Concert Friday night (12/6) at 7 at Spence Chapel.  It will feature a variety of ensembles at the university.  Admission is a nonperishable food item or a cash donation to benefit the Salvation Army.  

The MSU Clayworks Pottery Sale continues Friday (12/6) from 6 to 9 p.m. at Brick City Gallery, 215 W. Mill St. in Springfield.  Pottery created by Missouri State University art students and faculty will be for sale.  

The OTC Fine Arts Department will host the $100 and Under Art Market Friday (12/6) from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Atrium on the OTC Springfield Campus, 1001 E. Chestnut Expressway.  

“Christmas Crafts: Festive Things to Make and Do!” will be held Friday (12/6) at 2:30 at the Christian County Library Clever Branch.  

Children can have their photo taken with Santa and shop for inexpensive gifts for family and friends Friday afternoon (12/6) from 2 to 5 and Saturday (12/7) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Christian County Library Ozark Branch.  Find out more here.  

The Arc of the Ozarks will host the Christmas Extravaganza Friday night (12/6) from 5:30 to 9:30 at the White River Conference Center, 600 W. Sunshine in Springfield.  The event will benefit Rivendale, a private school and autism center.  

The Community Foundation of the Ozarks will host “It’s a Wonderful Night” Friday night (12/6) at 6 at The Old Glass Place, 521 E. St. Louis in Springfield.  The evening will include food, dancing and a lip sync competition.   

The 4th Annual Toys for Tots Comedy Show, starring Piff the Magic Dragon, will be held Friday night (12/6) at 8 at the Gillioz Theatre, 325 Park Central East in Springfield.  

The Missouri State Ice Hockey Bears will host Maryville University Friday and Saturday night (12/6-12/7) at 7 at Jordan Valley Ice Park.  

The MSU men’s basketball team will host Mississippi Valley State Friday night (12/6) at 7:05 at JQH Arena.  

The Eureka Springs Christmas Parade of Lights will start at 6 p.m. Friday (12/6) in downtown Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

Joplin Little Theatre, 3009 W. First St. in Joplin, presents “Return of the Christmas Kid” Friday and Saturday night (12/6-12/7) at 7:30 and Sunday afternoon (12/8) at 2:30.  

The Chess on the Square Rapid Tournament is Friday night (12/6) from 6 to 9 at the Discovery Center of Springfield, 438 E. St. Louis.  

The Downtown Branson Christmas Celebration is Friday (12/6) from 4 to 7 p.m. at Liberty Plaza off Pacific Street.  The event will include pictures with Santa, Christmas caroling, hot cocoa and a gingerbread house decorating contest.     

The Live Nativity is at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds with shows at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday night (12/6-12/7).  

Republic Parks and Recreation will host the Reindeer Run 5K Friday night (12/6) at 7 at JR Martin Park in Republic.  

Candy Cane Lane, a drive through light display, is open at Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park, 3825 W. Farm Rd. 146 in Springfield, through December 22.  Hours are Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights from 5 to 8.  Hot chocolate will be available for purchase.  

The Light the Park light display at Bolivar’s Dunnegan Park, 601 MO 83 in Bolivar, is open nightly from 6 to 9 p.m. through December 27.  It will be closed to vehicle traffic until 7 p.m. December 7 for a special event.  Donations are accepted to benefit local charities.  

Christmas in the Park will be held Friday night (12/6) from 5 to 8 at Atchley Park on North Highway 5 in Lebanon.  The event will include photos with Santa, caroling, horse-drawn hayrides, inflatables, hot chocolate and food trucks.  

Christmas Lights of Ozark, a holiday light display, is at Finley River Park in Ozark through December 31.  Hours are 5 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 5 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.  Donations are accepted.  

The Pop-Up Sale: Holiday Market will be held Friday and Saturday (12/6-12/7) from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday (12/8) from 1 to 5 at the Springfield Art Museum, 1111 E. Brookside Dr. in Springfield.  

Candlelight Tours of the Missouri Governor’s Mansion will be offered Friday night (12/6) and Saturday morning (12/7) from 10 to noon.  A tree lighting ceremony at the mansion will be held Friday night at 6, and tours will start immediately after and will go until 8.  

An Introduction to Orienteering Class will be held Saturday morning (12/7) at 9:30 at the MDC Ozark Regional Office, 551 Joe Jones Blvd. in West Plains.  Registration is required by Friday (12/6).  

The Christmas Mile and 5K will be held Saturday morning (12/7) at 8 at the CoxHealth Meyer Center, 3545 S. National in Springfield.  Proceeds benefit the Sertoma Club and Christian County children’s charities.  

George Washington Carver National Monument in Diamond, MO will host a Holiday Open House Saturday (12/7) from 1 to 3 with holiday music, refreshments and crafts.  

An Opening Day Celebration of Anders Zorn’s “Etchings” exhibit will be held Saturday (12/7) from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Springfield Art Museum, 1111 E. Brookside Dr. in Springfield.  Activities include a demonstration station and a family printmaking activity from 10:30 to 11:30 and from 1:30 to 2:30.  The exhibit runs through March 8.  

The Joplin History and Mineral Museum, 504 S. Schifferdecker Ave. in Joplin, will host a Victorian Holiday Open House Saturday (12/7) from 1 to 3 with refreshments, holiday crafts and a chance to learn about Victorian Christmas traditions.  

Christmas at the Mill will be held Saturday (12/7) at Wommack Mill in Fair Grove.  Events include a breakfast with Santa, a tree lighting, live music and more.  A Christmas parade will start at 5 p.m.  

Dynamic Strides Therapy, 2673 E. Sawyer Rd. in Republic, will host Christmas with Santa Saturday (12/7) from noon to 2:30.  Families can have their pictures taken with Santa and ponies.  Proceeds benefit the organization.  The cost is $15. 

The Holiday Season Arts and Crafts Show will be held Saturday (12/7) from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday (12/8) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the West Plains Civic Center.  

The Springfield Symphony will present “An American Christmas Matinee” Saturday afternoon (12/7) at 2:30 at the Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts.  The lobby doors will open at 1:30, and seating will begin at 2.  Admission is free.  

The Springfield-Greene County Library’s Holiday Store for Kids will be open this weekend at various library branches.  It offers a chance for kids to purchase gifts for loved ones.  

The Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library will host a Holiday Open House: An Enchanted Woodland Saturday morning (12/7) from 9 to noon.  Kids will make woodland crafts, and there will be games and activities.  

The Holiday Open House: Polar Party! will be held Saturday morning (12/7) from 10 to noon at the Library Station and at the Republic Branch Library.  The event will feature crafts, games, snacks and more.

Itus Virtus will host “Wreaths for Fallen Heroes” Saturday morning (12/7) at 11 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood in Springfield.  The public is invited to a short ceremony and to help place wreaths on tombstones.  

The program, “Nature Art: Nature Holiday Crafts,” will be held Saturday morning (12/7) at 10 at the Shepherd of the Hills Conservation Center, 483 Hatchery Rd. in Branson.  Make ornaments from natural materials.  Registration is required.

Christmas at the Farmstead will be held Saturday afternoon (12/7) from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Gray-Campbell Farmstead, 2400 S. Scenic in Springfield.  Celebrate an old-fashioned Christmas with cookies, cocoa and caroling.  

The 1st Annual Springfield Children’s Business Fair will be held Saturday (12/7) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fairbanks Community Center, 1126 N. Broadway in Springfield.  

The Annual Christmas Tour of Homes will be held Saturday (12/7) from 3 to 8 p.m. in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.  Advance tickets are $20, and kids 12 and under get in free.  Proceeds benefit the Eureka Springs Preservation Society.

Christmas at Laura’s will be held Saturday night (12/7) from 6 to 8 at the Laura Ingalls Wilder Historic Home and Museum, 3060 Highway A in Mansfield.  The historic farmhouse will feature vintage decorations, kids can have pictures taken with Santa by Laura’s fireplace, and the public can taste dishes from Laura’s recipes.  The bookstore will also be open.    

The Bolivar Kiwanis Club will host the Glow Walk through the Park at Dunnegan Park in Bolivar Saturday night (12/7) from 5 to 7.  Admission is $3 per person or $12 max for a family, and glow necklaces are included in admission.  Hot chocolate and cookies will be available, and Santa Claus will make a visit.   

Caroling at the Crossroads will be held Saturday (12/7) at 5 p.m. on Main Street in Nixa with the Mayor’s Tree Lighting, caroling and choir performances, Christmas crafts and a visit by Santa.  

Jordan Valley Ice Park, 635 E. Trafficway in Springfield, will offer free ice skating Saturday night (12/7) from 6:30 to 7:30.  Skate rental is $3.  

A Holiday Train Garden Display is at the Springfield-Greene County Botanical Center, 2400 S. Scenic in Springfield, through December 31.  Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.  

The Discovery Center of Springfield will host “Science of Movement: Swirling Snowflakes” Saturday morning at 10 for young children.  The cost is $8.  

Fanatics and the Fan will host Geekmas Saturday (12/7) from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Creamery Arts Center.  

Breakfast with Santa will be held Saturday morning (12/7) from 8 to 10 at the Ozark Community Center.  The cost is $6 per person or $20 for a family of four with each additional person costing $3.  Registration is required.  Claus and Paws is from 10:30 to noon Saturday morning.  Have your furry friends’ photos taken with Santa.  Learn more here.  

Teens are invited to the program, “Up-cycled Book Art,” Saturday afternoon (12/7) from 1 to 4 at the Christian County Library Nixa Branch.  

Christmas on the Frisco is Saturday (12/7) in Willard.  A parade will start at noon.  Crafts and Cocoa with Santa will be held at the Willard Community Building from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and the Willard Chamber of Commerce will offer chili dogs from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Frisco Greenway Trailhead.  

The Christmas in Paradise Parade and Chili Cook-Off will be held Saturday (12/7) in Rogersville.  The parade will start at 1, and the Chili Cook-Off will start right after the parade ends, at Rogersville Upper Elementary.  

The Highlandville Christmas Parade will start Saturday afternoon (12/7) at 1.  

Sparta’s Christmas parade will be held Saturday afternoon (12/7) at 4.  After the parade, children can meet Santa and Mrs. Claus and have their photos taken at Santa’s Wonderland, 7463 State Highway 14.  There will also be a gingerbread house contest.  

The Verona Christmas Parade will start Saturday afternoon (12/7) at 2 in Verona.  

The Kimberling City Hometown Holiday Parade will start at 10 Saturday morning (12/7) in Kimberling City.  The theme is “Christmas Stories.”  

The Seymour Christmas Parade will start Saturday night (12/7) at 5:30 and will travel around the Seymour square.  The theme is “The Magic of Christmas.”  

Republic Parks and Recreation will host Breakfast with Santa Saturday morning (12/7) at 8:30 at the Republic Community Center, 711 E. Miller Rd. in Republic.  The cost is $3 per plate, and photos are $1 or you may take your own.  

The Republic Historical Society will host its annual Christmas Tour of Homes Saturday (12/7) starting at 10 a.m. at the history museum at Main and Grant in Republic.  Tickets are $8 at the door, and raffle tickets will be available for purchase.  

C.A.R.E. Animal Rescue, 1328 W. Sunshine in Springfield, will offer pet photos with Santa Saturday (12/7) from 1 to 5.  The cost is $10, and proceeds benefit the shelter.  

Bad Santa Pet Photos will be offered Saturday (12/7) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Fetch Pet Supplies and Gifts, 1332A E. Republic Rd. in Springfield. The cost is $10, and proceeds will go to SAAF Spay and Neuter Clinic.  

Children can meet Santa Claus Saturday (12/7) from 1 to 3 at Basin Spring Park in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.  Find out more here.  

The Cardinals Christmas Carnival will be held Saturday morning (12/7) from 9:30 to 11:30 at Hammons Field’s Indoor Training Facility, 955 E. Trafficway in Springfield.  Admission is free, but those who attend are asked to take a new, unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots.  

The Aurora Branch Library, 202 S. Jefferson in Aurora, will host Christmas Craft Day Saturday (12/7) from 10 a.m. to noon.  Adults and children are invited to stop by and make a craft.   

Nixa Jr. High, 205 North St. in Nixa, will host the 39th Annual Craft Show Saturday (12/7) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  

The Springfield Chamber Chorus presents “What’s in a Name? Emmanuel” Saturday night (12/7) at 7:30 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1115 N. Campbell in Springfield.  Admission is free with a donation of a clothing item.  A second concert will be held Sunday afternoon (12/8) at 3:30 at University Heights Baptist Church, 1010 S. National.  That concert will also feature the OTC Concert Choir and Reed Academy’s Sixth Grade Select Choir, and the cost to attend is $10 for adults, $5 for students and free for children (tickets are still required).  

The 34th Annual Imagine Concert, a tribute to John Lennon and the Beatles, is Saturday night (12/7) at 5:30 at the Gillioz Theatre, 325 Park Central East in Springfield.  

The Men’s Chorus of the Ozarks will present the Songs of the Season Concert Saturday night (12/7) at 7 and Sunday afternoon (12/8) at 2 at the Springfield Art Museum.  

The 65th Nixa Christmas Parade will start at 2 p.m. Sunday (12/8) at the X Center.  The theme is An Old-Fashioned Christmas.  Here’s the parade route:  West from the X Center on North St., north on Main, west on Aven, south on Fort, west on Wasson, north on McCroskey, east on Lorene, north on Main St., east on Short St., south on Frank and east on Kyle to the back driveway of the Nixa Jr. High.  

The Branson Adoration Celebration Paradewill be held Sunday night (12/8) at 5 in downtown Branson.  

The Missouri State University Double Reed Society will present a Holiday Concert Sunday afternoon (12/8) at 4:30 at the Battlefield Mall.  An Oboe/Bassoon Petting Zoo will be open after the concert.  

Queen City Voices presents “The Magic of Christmas” Sunday afternoon (12/8) at 3 at the Historic Fox Theatre on Park Central Square in Springfield.  

The Relentless Comedy Workshop, an eight-week level one improv course, will start Sunday (12/8) at 4 at the Creamery Arts Center in downtown Springfield.  

The program, “Minimalism 101,” will be held Sunday afternoon (12/8) at 2 for adults at the Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library.  You’ll learn how to live your best with less.  

The Moon City Creative District will host the Moon City Gallery Tour Sunday (12/8) from 1 to 5 in the district north of Commercial Street in Springfield.  Tour galleries and studios in the district and visit with artists.  Art will be available for purchase.  

The Cassville Christmas Parade will be held Sunday (12/8) at 4 on Main Street in Cassville.  

The Southwest Baptist University Department of Music will present the Festival of Christmas at 6 p.m. Sunday (12/8) at Mabee Chapel on the Bolivar campus.  Admission is free, but donations will be accepted for the Polk County Food Pantry.  

The Rountree Holiday Bazaar will be held Sunday (12/8) from 3 to 6 p.m. at Tie & Timber, 1451 E. Cherry.  Shop for items created by Rountree artists.
