The Japanese Fall Festival will be held Friday (9/6) from 5 to 10, Saturday (9/7) from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday (9/8) from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Mizumoto Japanese Stroll Garden, 2400 S. Scenic in Springfield. 

Public Observing Night at Baker Observatory will be held Friday night (9/6) from 8 to 11 at MSU’s Baker Observatory. 

Springfield Contemporary Theatre presents “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” Friday (9/6) through September 22 at the theatre, 302 E. Pershing in Springfield. 

The Great 417-Land Scavenger Hunt is being held throughout September in Springfield with a chance to win prizes. 

The HUGE Poster Sale will be held Friday (9/6) from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Plaster Student Union on the Missouri State University campus. 

Kids in grades eight through 12 are invited to learn how to play Dungeons and Dragons at the Willard Branch Library Friday afternoon (9/6) at 3:30.  Find out more here

First Friday Art Walk is Friday night (9/6) from 6 to 10 at downtown Springfield venues. 

A new exhibit will open at the Park Central Branch Library Friday night (9/6) at 6 during First Friday Art Walk.  The exhibit is “Seeds of Revolution:  The Cultural Commentary and Impact of Ai Weiwei’s Sunflower Seeds” by MSU student, Katie Kimbrough. 

The Drury men’s soccer team will host Northeastern State Friday afternoon (9/6) at 4 and Ouachita Baptist Sunday afternoon (9/8) at 2:30 at Curry Sports Complex.  Learn more here

Missouri State University will present the Biology Department seminar, “Perspectives in Lake Ecology: From Predator-Induced Defenses to Invasive Species,” Friday afternoon (9/6) at 4 in Temple Hall, Room 003. 

The 12th Annual Greek Festival is Friday night (9/6) from 5 to 10, Saturday (9/7) from noon to 10 and Sunday (9/8) from noon to 3 at St. Thomas the Apostle Orthodox Church, 4200 S. Wild West Days will be held in Fordland at the city park Friday and Saturday (9/6-9/7) with food, crafts, games, music, a parade and more. 

“Discover Nature: Fishing Lessons 1 & 2” will be held Friday morning (9/6) at 8:30 at the Missouri Department of Conservation Ozark Regional Office, 551 Joe Jones Blvd. in West Plains.  Registration is required. 

The Missouri Department of Conservation will host an open house for the re-opening of the Shoal Creek Conservation Education Center in Joplin Friday morning (9/6) from 10 to noon. 

The Arkansas Hot Air Balloon State Championship will be held Friday through Sunday (9/6-9/8) in Harrison, Arkansas.  There will be tethered balloon rides, balloon race competitions, activities for kids, live music, food and much more. 

The 49th annual Antique Automobile Festivalis Friday and Saturday (9/6-9/7) in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. 

The Missouri State women’s soccer team will host Kansas City Friday night (9/6) at 7 at Allison South Stadium.  Find out more here

Teen Friday Nights is Friday night (9/6) from 6 to 8 for students in grades six through 12 at the Library Station.  Stop in for games, crafts and special events. 

Braum’s An Affair of the Heart will be held Friday through Sunday (9/6-9/8) at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds E-Plex.  The event features more than 100 vendors from 15 states selling a variety of items. 

The Conservation Families program, “September Stroll and Scavenger Hunt,” will be held Saturday morning (9/7) at 9 at the Shoal Creek Conservation Education Center, 201 W. Riviera Dr. in Joplin. 

The Ozarks Model Railroad Association’s Fall Train Show will be held Saturday (9/7) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds E-Plex.  Admission is $8 for anyone over 11. 

The Missouri State University Softball vs. Maroon & White Scrimmage will be held Saturday morning (9/7) at 11 at Killian Sports Complex.  Learn more here

The 7th Annual Big Red Shoe Run to benefit Ronald McDonald House of the Four States will be held Saturday morning (9/7) in Joplin.  The event includes a 15K, a 5K and a one mile run/walk. 

The 2019 Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be held Saturday (9/7) from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Mercy Park, 3002 St. John’s Blvd. in Joplin. 

Prairie State Park in Mindenmines will host a guided two-mile Bison Hike Saturday morning (9/7) at 10. 

Bibliobop, a high-energy dance party for preschoolers, will be held Saturday morning (9/7) at 11. 

Kids 12 to 17-years-old are invited to Conservation TEENS program, “Catching Crayfish,” Saturday morning (9/7) at 10 at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center.  Registration is required. 

The Community Heroes Music Festivalto honor veterans, active military, firefighters, paramedics and more will be held Saturday (9/7) at 12:30 at 7837 Gateway Dr. in Neosho.  The event will feature music, food, vendors, a fireworks show and more.  

Picnic in the Park, hosted by the Ozarks AAZK and Dickerson Park Zoo, will be held at the zoo Saturday night (9/7) from 5:30 to 8:30 with keeper chats, animal interactions, games and more.  The Bush Country Café will be open, and food trucks will be selling a variety of things to eat.  Admission is $5. 

Professional storyteller, Fran Stallings, will present a program of storytelling and live music Saturday night (9/7) at Roaring River State Park in Cassville.  “Stories and Songs for a Green Earth” will start at 7:30. 

The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band will be in concert Saturday night (9/7) at 7:30 at the Eureka Springs Auditorium.  Find out more here

Bolivar Country Days is Saturday (9/7) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in downtown Bolivar with kids’ activities, a car show, a cupcake contest, live music and more. 

The program, “Women in George Washington Carver’s Life,” will be held Saturday and Sunday (9/7-9/8) at 1 at George Washington Carver National Monumentin Diamond.

The program, “Intro to Editing,” for anyone age 12 to adult, will be held Saturday afternoon (9/7) at 3 AT the Creamery Arts Center, 411 N. Sherman Parkway in Springfield. 

Geezer Fall Festis Saturday night (9/7) from 6:30 to 9 at the Library Center Patio for adults only.  Geezer will play danceable tunes from the 60s and 90s. 

“Start the Conversation,” a youth suicide awareness event, will be held Saturday (9/7) from 2 to 10 p.m. at the Gillioz Theatre, 325 Park Central East in Springfield.  Daytime seminars are for adults working with youth, teens and young adults, but a concert in the evening is for all ages.  It will feature Fishing for Saturday, The Rosy Hips and McKenna and Brock.  Tickets are required.

The Discovery Center fundraiser, “Night at the Museum,” will be held Saturday night (9/7) at the museum, 438 E. St. Louis St. in Springfield.  Doors open at 6 for the 21 and older event. 

The Rainbow Network Mud Volleyball Tournamentwill be held Saturday (9/7) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 2747 State Highway NN in Ozark.  Besides the games, there will be live music, food and beverages.  Proceeds will benefit Rainbow Network’s programs in rural Nicaragua.  For details, (417) 889-8088. 

CoxHealth will host the 2019 Wellness for Warriors ExpoSaturday (9/7) from 9 a.m. to noon at the Meyer Fitness Center, 3545 S. National in Springfield. It’s open to military, veterans, first responders and their families. 

The True You Yoga Festival will be held Saturday (9/7) from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Phelps Grove Park in Springfield.  The event will include live music, classes, a silent auction and vendors. 

Ambassadors for Children will host the 2nd Annual Silent Disco Saturday night (9/7) at 7 at 505 E. Trafficway in Springfield. 

The Springfield Roller Derby All Stars will host 580 Rollergirls Saturday night (9/7) at the Shrine Mosque,601 E. St. Louis in Springfield.  Doors open at 5, and the game is at 6.  Learn more here

An Open Art Studio for kids in grades seven through 12 will be at the Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library Sunday (9/8) from 1:30 to 4:30.  Take your own supplies or use the library’s. 

The Second Sunday Concert Series will feature Blue Train Sunday afternoon (9/8) at 2 at the Library Center Auditorium. 

A Voice Faculty Recital, featuring Dr. Elizabeth Avery and Dr. Ann Marie Wilcox-Daehn, will start Sunday afternoon (9/8) at 3:30 in Ellis Recital Hall at MSU. 

The performance art band, Princess, will present their live performance/video project, “Out There,”Sunday afternoon (9/8) at 2 at the Springfield Art Museum. 

The On Stage series at the Moxie Cinema, 305 S. Campbell in Springfield, will feature “Kinky Boots”Sunday night (9/8) at 5.
