Roots N Blues N BBQ Starts This Weekend

The Roots N Blues Festival begins this weekend at Stephens Lake Park in Columbia.

The festival is expected to bring around 10,000 people a day to the event and the city.

Richard King is the President of Thumper Productions, which produces the event. He said they improve the festival every year.

“We think the music is definitely the reason people come to Columbia," he said. "We have plenty of local art displays. We have local artists that have been working on this all year to dress up Stephens Lake Park and things like that we try to improve every year.”

Free shuttles will take people from parking garages to the festival and Columbia’s public transit service will be free all weekend. A free bike valet service will also be available.

The artists for Roots N Blues this year include The Avett Brothers, Sturgill Simpson and Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats. There will also be at least 25 food vendors.
