A Fulton developer could break ground this spring on a biodiesel production plant.

By Charles Minshew

Boyd Ware first presented the idea to the city council in 2007, but economic conditions caused delays. However, Fulton Area Development Corporation President Bruce Hackmann says the benefits will be worth the wait:

"The project’s been an ongoing project for four or five years," said Hackmann, "and again, a lot of that has to do with the fact that businesses trying to get the lending for a project of this magnitude –it’s a challenge in this type of economy."

In the original proposal, the plant was slated to create 20 jobs. Now, Ware says the plant will employ around 40 people. If construction begins in Spring, fuel production could begin in 2013.
