Municipal Elections Underway; Polling Places Changed for Many Boone County Residents

Boone County residents vote today in Missouri’s General Municipal Elections.

In Columbia the First and Fifth Wards are “having a really good turnout,” according to Boone County Clerk Wendy Noren, who believes this is due to the Columbia City Council race.

The candidates for First Ward are current City Council representative Clyde Ruffin, Pat Kelley and MU senior Andrew Hutchinson.

Fifth Ward candidates are MU professor, Art Jago and Shelter Insurance manager, Matt Pitzer. They will be taking over Laura Nauser who decided not to run again for City Council.

Noren said that many polling places have changed across Boone County since last year’s November election. “People need to check their polling place before they go,” she said, explaining that over 50,000 voters might be going to the wrong polling place if they go where they went in November.

Boone County polls close at 7 p.m. and require a form of ID or proof of address and name. Voters in Boone County can check the Boone County Clerk website for information on their polling place.
