Due to coronavirus concerns, the annual Artsfest on Historic Walnut Street has been cancelled for 2020.

The Springfield Regional Arts Council has published an "Update on Artsfest 2020" at https://www.springfieldarts.org/index.php/Artsfest.  It reads in part:

"In light of the continued bans, due to public health and safety concerns, on large gatherings in our community through mid-May, we’ve made the difficult decision to postpone Artsfest 2020." It was scheduled for Saturday and Sunday May 2nd and 3rd in the Walnut Street Historic District, where the annual festival of the visual and performing arts has taken place for more than 40 years.

Organizers say a "fall event" is in the planning stages, in conjunction with the Downtown Springfield Association. "Artsfest will combine with Cider Days to host a unique community festival. The combined event will take place on Walnut Street Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20. This 'super event' will expand the fall festival’s footprint with more artist vendors, performers,"  and the other components that usually make up both annual community festivals. For information, visit https://www.springfieldarts.org or call the Springfield Regional Arts Council at (417) 862-2787.

Randy Stewart joined the full-time KSMU staff in June 1978 after working part-time as a student announcer/producer for two years. His job has evolved from Music Director in the early days to encompassing production of a wide range of arts-related programming and features for KSMU, including the online and Friday morning "Arts News." Stewart assists volunteer producers John Darkhorse (Route 66 Blues Express), Lee Worman (The Gold Ring), and Emily Higgins (The Mulberry Tree) with the production of their programs. He's also become the de facto "Voice of KSMU" in recent years due to the many hours per day he’s heard doing local station breaks. Stewart’s record of service on behalf of the Springfield arts community earned him the Springfield Regional Arts Council's "Ozzie Award" in 2006.
