Cole County residents voted to continue a half-cent sales tax on Tuesday. Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce President Randy Allen said the chamber has supported the tax for 30 years.

Almost 80 percent of voters approved the tax. Allen said he is pleased with the voters’ decision.

“That is a phenomenal result for us. In the county, it’s an important issue for us,” Allen said.

The Board of Directors of the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce supports the renewal.

In the 2014-2015 fiscal year, Cole County collected over $68 million in tax revenue.
