A UM curator has written a response to a Wall Street Journal editorial slamming the university for allowing protests in the fall of 2015 to dictate its course.

"Indulging protesters can be expensive," the editorial began, going on to say "Apparently fewer parents want to send their kids to a school where activism eclipses academics."

The June 15 editorial, headlined "More Misery in Missouri," went on to link the budget cuts at MU to the 2015 protests over the university's response to charges of racism. The editorial said after freshman enrollment dropped by 35 percent between 2015 and 2017, the school lost about $29 million in tuition money, leading to budget cuts and layoffs.
