The future of local journalism, part 2

In a report released earlier this year, the FCC acknowledged that some of its policies and regulations are out of sync with the swiftly evolving media markets and the information needs of communities.

This episode is the final segment of Global Journalist's two-part series on Federal Communications Commission reforms. Speakers featured in the program include Steven Waldman, who directed the FCC’s comprehensive study of the state of US journalism. Waldman delivered the keynote address during a recent symposium on the far-reaching report.

The program also heard from the FCC chairman, Julius Genachowski. He announced a policy change recently related to one of the main recommendations of Waldman’s report: provide all Americans with broadband internet service.
