Incumbent Republican Caleb Rowden narrowly won a second term in the Missouri State Senate Tuesday night with 52% of the vote. Rowden, retains his seat in state senate District 19, which comprises Boone and Cooper counties.
Rowden defeated Democratic challenger and former Missouri House representative Judy Baker. Early election results published on the Secretary of State’s website showed Rowden with a decisive lead in Cooper County, and Baker with a much narrower lead in Boone County.
After the results became clear, Rowden gave a speech to the Boone County Republicans who were gathered at a socially distanced watch party at the Stoney Creek Conference Center. “Everybody’s happy and relieved and ready to get off the campaign trail for a little while,” Rowden said.
Rowden has served as majority leader in the state senate since 2019. He says addressing the economic and educational impacts COVID-19 has had on the community is one of his goals for his new term.
