Portions of I-70 to be resurfaced in Boone County

Portions of I-70 in Boone and Callaway Counties will be resurfaced this year following the award of a construction contract by the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission at a meeting today.
The contract was awarded to smooth and resurface more than 16 miles of the westbound driving lanes. The project will also seal the shoulders from east of Route 54 in Kingdom City to just east of the Lake of the Woods Exit in Boone County.

The contract also includes deck repairs to the bridge over Big Cedar Creek located near the Boone/Callaway County line.  The low bid for the work was more than two million dollars.

The contractor will begin construction this spring, and motorists should expect lane closures until the projected finish this fall.
