The Missouri Department of Transportation is planning to remove and replace Providence Road bridge over Interstate 70 as a part of its Improve I-70 Program.

The Improve I-70 project will expand 200 miles of the interstate, and cost $2.8 billion.

The $441 million project between Rocheport and Columbia will include a third lane in each direction, 14 new bridge structures, new north and south outer road connections across Perche Creek and improvements to the interchanges between Route J and U.S. 63.

Emery Sapp & Sons (ESS), partnered with St. Louis contractor Parsons Transportation group, will lead the reconstruction project.

The closure will allow crews to construct a new roundabout to connect Business Loop 70 to eastbound Interstate 70.
