Most people don’t consider science when thinking about the arts.  However, in many ways, the two are linked.  Not only does science explain the technology and mechanisms by which art is delivered, but our perception of the arts depends on our underlying physiology and mind.  Not only that, but the pursuit of results in artistic endeavor reflects the methods used in the sciences when searching for the “truth” in nature.  To get some insight into the connections, Dr. Todd Payne, a professor of music at MSU and a noted singer, comes by today to chat.  He and I explore the motivation, methods and connections fostered by both the “S” and the “A” in STEAM.
