Wednesday: Legal Roundtable Discusses Infant Death, Legislative Failure On Concurrent Jurisdiction,

This interview will be on “St. Louis on the Air” at noon on Wednesday. This story will be updated after the show. You can listen live.

A woman from Columbia, Missouri, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter after her boyfriend suffocated to death his three-month-old son. Emily Paul had pressured her boyfriend to do it.

On Wednesday’s St. Louis on the Air, our Legal Roundtable panelists will discuss that case and a variety of other local and regional issues. The other topics include a Ferguson landlord arguing that eviction moratoriums violate the state’s constitution and law and the Missouri legislature’s failure to pass a bill that would have given the state attorney general concurrent jurisdiction over cases under the purview of St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner.

Joining the discussion will be:

  • Bill Freivogel, journalism professor at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, as well as an attorney
  • Mark Smith, associate vice chancellor and dean for career services at Washington University, as well as an attorney
  • Susan McGraugh, professor at the St. Louis University School of Law and director of its criminal defense legal clinic
