How Columbia Regional Airport lost all its airlines but one

Hey Paul Studios

This week we note the last departure of Frontier Airlines from Columbia Regional Airport and try to figure out how we ended up with just one airline.

The cast of airlines that fly and land at Columbia's regional airport south of town seems to be constantly changing.  Recently we saw see longtime partner Delta leave in a huff after revenue guarantees attracted American Airlines to add some flights.  And then, on May 15th, Frontier Airlines said goodbye to Columbia with their last flight to Orlando.

This is our logo we like it a lot.

It's a little dramatic, but it's not a recent phenomenon: airlines have been coming and going at Columbia's struggling airport for years.  This week on CoMo Explained we show you how COU went from subsisting on the life support of federal aid to a deal where the city and its taxpayers are on the line.
