Bollier & Marshall Debate | Underground Film Festival | KC Rep's 'Ghost Light'

Segment 1, beginning at 2:16: Democrat Barbara Bollier and Republican Roger Marshall met in Wichita for their final debate.

With Election Day less than two weeks away, Kansas voters who have not yet cast their ballots were given the opportunity for a side-by-side comparison of the leading contenders to fill the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Pat Roberts.

  • Kansas Sen. Barbara Bollier, D-Mission Hills
  • U.S. Rep. Roger Marshall, R-Kansas

Segment 2, beginning at 27:43: A local film festival was revamped to be outdoors and socially-distanced, with all attendees wearing face masks.

The Kansas City Underground Film Festival had just completed its opening night in March when community spread of the coronavirus forced the remainder of the event to be postponed. Seven months later, the event known for welcoming films never intended for commercial release is back on.

  • Willy Evans, founder and director of the Kansas City Underground Film Festival

Segment 3, beginning at 39:47: An idea originally planned to hit the stage four years from now has become the first event of The Rep's latest season.

In only his second season with Kansas City Repertory Theatre, artistic director Stuart Carden made a nimble pivot to mount its current production in time for Halloween. In partnership with the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, the theatre is presenting six evenings of haunted music and tales on the museum's south lawn.

  • Stuart Carden, artistic director of the Kansas City Repertory Theatre

The Kansas City Underground Film Festival runs from Oct. 15-31, at the Film Row Art Screen, 1818 Wyandotte St., Kansas City, Missouri 64108. Reserve your seat for free at KCUndergroundFilmFestival.com.
