Amber Gann began working as the interim 911 Director on March 1.  Although she is new to the position, Gann has worked at the county sheriff’s department for years.

She said in her almost 10 years there she has worked in several different positions, including Deputy Director and dispatcher.

She said she is familiar working on the radio as a dispatcher, but now she wants to focus more on the administrative side of things, and building teamwork.

“My plans are just to focus on teamwork, not with only us, but with just other agencies, and just to open up our lines of communication more,” said Gann.

Michelle Kidwell worked as 911 Director for Callaway County before Gann.  She has worked closely with Gann at the sheriff’s department.

“She had applied to become the Deputy Director to assist me,” said Kidwell.

When Kidwell decided to step down from her position as 911 Director, she recommended Gann for the job.

Kidwell said she feels Gann has proved herself and she has no doubt in Gann’s ability to run the 911 center.

“I do think that the citizens are in great hands with Amber Gann,” said Kidwell.

Human Resources Director for Callaway Country Leah Laramore says the county commission should decide by the end of the year whether Gann will take the position permanently, or if the position will open up for more interviews.
