Since we began the Check-In, we’ve gone from crisis to crisis - a global pandemic sparked off an economic crisis and merged into a movement calling for an end to police violence and for reconciliation and racial justice.
Where all of these crises come together can be summed up in a word: disparity. In our culture, there is a gap between how people of color and specifically African-Americans and other communities are getting by. And what this is pointing to is systemic racism and structural problems in our healthcare, in our education, and in our systems of justice.
So, what do we do about it?
Our guests:
Verna LaBoy, health educator with Columbia/Boone County Health and Human Services.
Crystal Kroner, executive director of Cradle to Career Alliance.
Brittany Fatoma, board member with Worley Street Roundtable.
