Influenza And COVID-19 | Voting FAQ Event | Candidate Rich Finneran

Segment 1, beginning at 4:25: How to prepare for flu season during the pandemic.

Infectious disease expert Dr. Mary Anne Jackson said it's never been more important to get a flu shot. The vaccines are safe and have the ability to save many lives — especially older adults and children. Dr. Jackson also recommended that people continue to wear masks, socially distance and avoid gatherings. Combined, those will give us our best chance in this uncharted territory.

Segment 2, beginning at 24:08: A digital event aimed at answering your questions about voting this year.

New mail-in voting rules have made it an especially confusing year to vote — especially if you just turned 18 or English isn't your first language. To help dispel confusion, KCUR is partnering with La Mega Media and KC Hispanic News to present aFacebook Live event geared towards young Latinx voters in the Kansas City area.

Segment 3, beginning at 31:48: To build public trust "We have to rebuild the legitimacy of our public institutions," says Democratic challenger.

Rich Finneran says he's running in part because of Republican incumbent Eric Schmitt's actions in office including the attorney general's lawsuit aimed at striking down the Affordable Care Act. The St. Louis lawyer believes fighting violent crime includes looking at all the contributing factors like housing issues, lack of job opportunities and health care.

  • Rich Finneran, Democratic candidate for attorney general of Missouri

KCUR and La Mega KC hosts "The Importance Of Voting — Why We're All Confused For Election 2020" on Thursday, October 1, 2020, 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Facebook Live.
