The Wall Street Journal reports Amazon plans to cut back on how many packages it sends through the U.S. Postal Service, which is already in a fragile financial situation.

The cloud-computing service went down around midday on Tuesday, and Amazon said the issue was resolved just after 5 p.m. ET. Thousands of companies were affected by the outage.

Amazon's CEO will be Andy Jassy, the head of its cloud computing division. "As much as I still tap dance into the office, I'm excited about this transition," Bezos says.

"We're surprised about this conclusion. AWS is the clear leader in cloud computing," an Amazon Web Services spokesperson told NPR. The contract is for 10 years.

The Postal Service, criticized by Trump for charging Amazon "so little," has lacked a quorum on its governing board since 2014. The board needs at least four new members; Trump has nominated three.
