The annual “Everybody Eats” Thanksgiving dinner is in its 21st year and seeking donations. The event includes a free, traditional Thanksgiving dinner and food box donations for local families. It’s put on by Almeta Crayton’s Community Programs, a local nonprofit.
“We tripled our numbers from last year,” ACCP Vice President Nick Raines said. “There’s going to be probably a couple hundred volunteers.”
The late Almeta Crayton started “Everybody Eats” in 1997. Crayton served on Columbia City Council and was an influential community leader.
The main “Everybody Eats” event will be held at the Columbia Senior Activities Center on Nov. 22 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This is the first year that “Everybody Eats” is also reaching new locations.
“We’ll be at Paquin Towers, Oak Towers, Welcome Home, as well as the event that’s going on at the Senior Center,” Raines said. “This is the first year that we are doing that too.”
ACCP is requesting donations, including turkeys, canned green beans, boxed mac and cheese and stuffing mix. Donations of food and money are being collected at the Moser’s on Business Loop 70.
