Jefferson City Police increase reward amount for information on missing boy

The Jefferson City Police raised the reward Monday for information about a missing 4-year-old boy to $11,000.

Darnell Gray went missing last Thursday, October 25 in Jefferson City. Jefferson City Police Lt. David Williams said they are expanding their search area for Gray.

"The amount of time that Darnell has been missing is beyond critical," Gray wrote in a news release over the weekend. "It is imperative that we find Darnell and return him to his family."

The briefing this morning had over 100 law enforcement and emergency services people in attendance, including the FBI and Missouri State Highway Patrol.

“Our resources are being limited,” Williams said. “We can only work our personnel so many hours before we have to give them a break, and our partners in emergency services have offered their personnel to relieve ours.”

Jefferson City Police said in the release it has received inconsistent statements in regards to Gray’s disappearance. Williams said the police are continuing to analyze the statements, but declined to give more detail because it is under investigation.

“We’re going back to the beginning and starting to look at every conversation that we’ve had,” Williams said at the news conference. “We are going back and looking at what they [sources] told us, what they told us the second time and what they’ve told the media.”

Law enforcement, emergency services and community members continue to search for Gray.
