The Midwest may get a break from the drought when remnants of Hurricane Isaac arrive late this week, but the torrent of rain could create problems.
Some forecasters have called for heavy rainfall this weekend – and possibly up to four inches of rain in parts of mid-Missouri.
The National Weather Service issued a statement saying “Those who live near or will be vacationing near small creeks and rivers should closely monitor river levels. Do not be fooled by the very low water levels that most creeks and streams are currently experiencing. Rainfall over this weekend will likely cause rapid and significant rises in water levels.”
