This year’s drought is beginning to take a toll on building’s foundations. Heather Bain’s home in Moberly has been affected by the drought. Her home is in need of foundation repairs. After the lack of rain the clay is shrinking leaving her dry wall cracking, her doors sticking and the trim no longer meets the floor.
“Your house is a big investment," Bain says. "And to me that investment will come back out. You know, you don’t want the problem to be there when you try to sell your house. Or anything like that. This way it is fixed. It’s you know, stabilized. And that way I don’t have to worry about it in the future. ”
According to a Moberly foundation repair company, the average cost for settlement repairs is between four and seven thousand dollars. Bain has not repaired her foundation yet, but she is looking into it.
