Nine people died in traffic crashes on Missouri’s highways over the Thanksgiving holiday counting period, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The counting period ran from 6 p.m. Wednesday through 11:59 Sunday night.
There were 587 crashes with 108 injuries and the nine fatalities over the Thanksgiving holiday. The Highway Patrol issued 86 DWI’s and made 67 drug arrests.
Fatalities were down from the same period last year when the Missouri Highway Patrol reported 17 deaths in traffic crashes.
According to the MSHP, of the nine traffic crash fatalities troopers investigated, one fatality occurred in each of the following areas: Troop A, Lee’s Summit area; Troop D, Springfield area; Troop F, Jefferson City area; Troop G, Willow Springs area; and Troop H, St. Joseph area. Four fatalities occurred in the Troop C, Weldon Spring area.
