Parson In Springfield To Detail Missouri's 2nd 'Presumptive Positive' COVID-19 Case

The second person in Missouri to test “presumptive positive” for COVID-19 is likely in Greene County.

Missouri Governor Mike Parson’s office announced Thursday afternoon that the governor will share details at a 6:00 p.m. press conference in Springfield with Mayor Ken McClure and the local health department director, Clay Goddard.

Several days ago, a woman in St. Louis County tested positive for the coronavirus.

Springfield-Greene County Health Department officals this week advised adults ages 60 and older to stay home as much as possible and to avoid crowds. Those guidelines also apply to people with diabetes, cancer, or heart and lung disease, officials said.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, some communities may need to "modify, postpone, or cancel large events" and mass gatherings for the safety and well-being of others as the coronavirus continues to spread.
